Undercurrent

How do we remain human — and how do we stay humane?

Technology, power and systems shape how we think, choose and live together. I make visible what slips out of view in the process: human experiences, clashing interests and our connection with the earth, with each other and with ourselves. Through stories, conversations and explorations, I invite you to look differently — and to consider what other choices ask of us.

A way of looking

See

Noticing what stays out of view: experiences, consequences and perspectives that easily disappear behind rules, numbers and things taken for granted.

Reflect

Exploring where things chafe. Which interests clash, which assumptions are at play, and who has room to decide?

Choose differently

Considering what a different choice asks. Sometimes that means adjusting, sometimes drawing a line, taking responsibility or daring to let something go.

Making the invisible visible. Creating room to choose differently.

One question, different forms

How we live and act humanely takes different forms in my work. A story invites reflection. A conversation questions what seems self-evident. An exploration reveals where things chafe and what calls for adjustment.

Kwetsbaar Evenwicht

“We, black people.” Those words were spoken in the museum café, after a visit to the Suriname Museum and The Black Archives. I was addressed as a self-evident part of a group. And I did not entirely recognise myself in it.
