How do we live humanely, in the world of today?
That question connects my work as a storyteller, creator and concept developer. How do we remain human at a time when technology, power and systems have ever more influence on our lives? And how do we stay humane in the choices we make?
I look at what plays out beneath the surface. At the stories and beliefs that shape how we see ourselves and others. At systems that offer support, but can also make people disappear from view. At what happens when interests clash and we have to choose.
I once wanted to be a journalist, to make the stories behind people visible. That curiosity still runs through my work. My experience inside and outside government helps me connect social questions to what people experience in their daily lives.
I translate those questions into stories, conversations and concepts that invite reflection and make room to look and act differently.
The thread through my work
We live in relationship with the earth, with each other and with ourselves. What we do has consequences within those relationships. To me, living in right relationship means recognising that connection and acting on it: taking care with what sustains us, with others, and with our own possibilities and limits.
That also means looking at where those relationships are under pressure. Who gets to decide? Who bears the consequences? Where is a boundary needed, and what must we be willing to change or give up?
In my work, those questions take different forms:
- Kwetsbaar Evenwicht tells a story about technology, power and humanity. The novel is a story that invites reflection on how we relate to each other and to the earth.
- De Kunst van Transparantie questions openness, secrecy and power. In the podcast we explore who decides what becomes visible, and what that means for trust and democracy.
- The Human Compass brings human experience back to where policy is made and decisions are taken. It helps reveal where things chafe and what adjustment may be needed.
- My talks connect these questions to practice: how we deal with technology and AI, and how government and citizens relate to each other.
- House of Navoti'yta is where I bring my work together in stories, journeys and images.
Questions I keep returning to
Humanity & Technology
How are technology and AI changing the way we think, choose and are human — and how do we want to relate to that?
Power, Systems & Governance
What happens when systems, policy and institutions shape our actions — and what easily slips out of view in the process?
Identity, History & Culture
Which stories from our history and culture shape how we look at ourselves and the world — and which perspectives remain out of view?
